NACOC Trains SHS Counsellors to Fight Drug Abuse in Bono Region

Guidance and counselling coordinators from senior high schools in the Bono Region have undergone training aimed at helping curb substance abuse among students.

The initiative, led by the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), forms part of efforts to address the growing concern over drug use in schools.

According to NACOC, marijuana and tramadol remain among the most commonly abused substances in the region, raising serious concerns for school authorities, parents, and stakeholders in education.

The training is expected to equip school counsellors with the skills to identify, prevent, and manage substance abuse cases among students, while also promoting awareness and early intervention strategies.
