Engineer and analyst Michael Kosi Dedey has raised concerns about what he describes as rising indiscipline in Ghana, following the Interior Minister's decision to revoke and reset firearm licences nationwide.
He argues that while the policy is a step in the right direction, it appears rushed and lacks strong institutional systems to support effective implementation.
NPP Communications Team member Emmanuel Senyo Amekplenu, speaking on the Adwoa Safo shooting incident, says the matter reflects poor conflict resolution within families and a lack of neutral mediation, urging calm and private resolution of disputes.
NDC Communications Team member Hamza Suhuyini called for stronger regulation of small arms, improved resourcing of the Small Arms Commission, and better use of police data to track licensed weapons. He also welcomed the government's decision to revoke firearm licences as a step toward accountability.
Michael Kosi Dedey further warned that Ghana is “losing the fight on gun control,” adding that the country must refocus on discipline, productivity, and long-term national development.
The discussions highlight growing public concern over firearm regulation, security governance, and rising social indiscipline.
