France records hottest-ever night as 40 drown trying to escape heatwave

People across Western Europe are sweltering from a heatwave. In France, at least 40 people have drowned in the past week after jumping into water to try and cool down from the intense temperatures. Forecasters warn that the extreme heat is likely to persist through the week.
