The Ministry of the Interior has announced the revocation of all existing firearm licences nationwide effective immediately, requiring all gun owners to reapply under a new licensing regime.
The move forms part of broader reforms aimed at strengthening gun control and enhancing public safety across the country.
Interior Minister Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak expressed concern over the misuse of licensed firearms for purposes other than their approved intent.
He explained that the new system is intended to improve regulation, accountability, and monitoring of firearm ownership in Ghana.
