Fifth round of US-sponsored Lebanon-Israel talks begin: What to expect

The fifth round of talks between Lebanon and Israel has begun. They are taking place at the US State Department in Washington, DC. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun says he has received a call from Vice President JD Vance affirming American support. He had earlier asserted he will accept nothing less than an end to Israeli occupation of southern Lebanon. Aoun says he hopes talks will result in the government extending state authority over all of Lebanon's territory.
