The Food and Beverages Association of Ghana (Food and Beverages Association of Ghana) is calling for urgent structural reforms in the power sector, warning that repeated electricity tariff increases are placing significant pressure on industrial growth.

Executive Chairman Rev. John Awuni says the current approach to addressing challenges in the electricity sector has become overly dependent on tariff adjustments instead of tackling underlying inefficiencies within the system.

The comments follow the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission's (Public Utilities Regulatory Commission) announcement of new utility tariffs, which saw electricity increase by 3.49% and water by 0.85%, effective July 1.

FABAG argues that without deeper reforms, rising operational costs could weaken productivity, increase production costs, and affect competitiveness across key industries.
