The National Disaster Management Organisation (National Disaster Management Organisation) has issued a final 14-day ultimatum to occupants of structurally weak buildings in the Central Region to evacuate or face forced demolition, with costs potentially recovered from property owners.

The warning follows a series of recent disasters including flooding, mudslides, landslides, and building collapses that have claimed 18 lives and affected more than 5,000 people across 13 districts.

Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show, Central Regional Director of NADMO, Emmanuel Kwesi Dawood, stressed that authorities can no longer tolerate delays in evacuating unsafe structures that endanger lives and property.

The directive forms part of intensified efforts to prevent further loss of life as disaster risks continue to rise in vulnerable communities.
