Western Regional Minister Joseph Nelson has indicated that authorities are considering dredging the Tano and Samre rivers as part of long-term efforts to address recurring flooding in Samreboi and surrounding communities.
The move follows severe flooding that caused widespread destruction in Samreboi and Asankragwa, where more than 24 buildings reportedly collapsed, displacing residents and damaging property.
He explained that a comprehensive assessment will first be conducted to determine the exact causes of the flooding before implementing permanent interventions to prevent future occurrences.
The announcement comes amid growing concerns over flood resilience, environmental management, and community safety in flood-prone areas.
