Major Safety Drive: NADMO to Pull Down 88 Risky Buildings in Metro Area

The Sekondi-Takoradi Metro Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (National Disaster Management Organisation), Alhaji Abubakar Deen, says the Zenith Hotel building in Takoradi will be the first structure to be demolished under a planned removal of 88 unsafe buildings across the metropolis.

He explained that the exercise follows earlier structural safety assessments conducted within the metropolis to identify buildings deemed unsafe for occupation.

According to him, the demolition exercise is expected to begin before July, as final administrative and operational arrangements are being completed.

The initiative forms part of efforts to reduce disaster risks, protect lives, and enforce building safety regulations in Sekondi-Takoradi.
