Brexit 10 years on: EU adjusts to life without the UK
Ten years after the Brexit vote and five years since it took effect, the EU has adapted to British absence — filling UK seats, absorbing relocated industries and reshaping alliances. Frankfurt gained 15,000 financial jobs from London, while German MEP David McAllister warned that losing the UK meant losing one of the bloc's three largest economies and a key security partner. Rejoining would require the UK to meet strict criteria, potentially including adopting the euro.
