Israel's ceasefire doctrine in Lebanon faces pressure amid US-Iran talks
Israel has continued military operations in southern Lebanon despite a ceasefire agreement, occupying land, demolishing homes and conducting strikes it deems necessary. Hezbollah has called the arrangement unworkable, while hardline Israeli minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has rejected any distinction between Lebanon and Hezbollah as a target. Israeli actions have also delayed US-Iran talks in Switzerland. Washington and Tel Aviv agree on disarming Hezbollah, but differ sharply on approach, with Vice President JD Vance warning Israel it cannot "kill its way" out of its security challenges.
