The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that heads of schools who allow lavish post-WASSCE celebrations and extravagant graduation ceremonies will face sanctions.

According to the directive, the move forms part of efforts to promote discipline, reduce unnecessary expenditure, and ensure that school activities remain focused on academic development rather than excessive celebrations.

The new ban applies to post-examination festivities and graduation events across basic and secondary schools nationwide.

GES says the policy is aimed at maintaining order in schools and ensuring that celebrations do not place financial burdens on students and parents.
