58 Buildings Collapse as Floods and Mudslides Worsen in Central Region

The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) says recent flooding, mudslides, and building collapses in the Central Region have claimed 18 lives and affected more than 5,000 people across 13 districts.

Speaking to Citi News, Central Regional Director of NADMO, Kwesi Dawood, said the disasters have also displaced 377 people and led to the collapse of 58 buildings.

He added that NADMO is currently conducting a needs assessment to determine the level of support required in the affected communities.

Mr. Dawood further warned that the organisation's resources have been significantly depleted following repeated disasters since May, and appealed for support from corporate organisations, development partners, and the general public to assist ongoing relief efforts.
