Evacuation Ordered at Sekondi Fishing Harbour Over Landslide Risk
Individuals operating along the landslide-prone sections of the Albert Bosumtwi–Sam Fishing Harbour in Sekondi have been directed to immediately evacuate the area following safety concerns.
The directive comes after a fire outbreak at the harbour, triggered when heavy rainfall caused a landslide that damaged an electricity line and sparked a blaze.
Western Regional Minister Joseph Nelson expressed concern about the unstable hillside behind the harbour during an inspection of the site.
He has called on the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) to urgently reinforce the affected areas to prevent future disasters and protect lives and property.
