UTAG Threatens Nationwide Strike Over Delayed Salary Agreement

The University Teachers Association of Ghana (University Teachers Association of Ghana) has issued a strong warning to government, giving it until June 30, 2026 to resolve outstanding conditions-of-service and welfare issues affecting academic staff in public universities.

UTAG says continued delays in implementing agreed measures are unacceptable and could erode confidence in the collective bargaining process between government and organised labour.

The association also expressed concern that the Interim Salary Adjustment Agreement has still not been signed, despite negotiations being concluded and agreement reached by all parties.

UTAG warns that failure to meet the deadline could result in a nationwide strike by university lecturers.

Speaking via Zoom, the General Secretary of UTAG, Samuel Kingsford Seglah, provided further insights into the association's position.
