Iran World Cup team leaves a note in LA locker room mentioning 168 girls killed in US attacks

Iran left a message in their SoFi Stadium locker room after their 0-0 draw with Belgium in Los Angeles on June 21.

The note thanked Iranian fans for giving their "heart, voice and soul." It also thanked the city of Los Angeles and referenced the 168 Minab schoolgirls killed in the February 28 U.S.-Israeli attacks.

The message ended with a call for peace, respect, and friendship among nations.

Despite travel restrictions, visa issues affecting team staff, and being based in Tijuana throughout the tournament, Iran now has a strong opportunity to reach the World Cup knockout stage for the first time in their history.

They face Group G leaders Egypt on June 26 in Seattle. #worldcup2026 #mtjag
