The Ghana Education Service (Ghana Education Service) has banned lavish post-WASSCE celebrations and graduation ceremonies on school premises with immediate effect.

GES Director-General, Prof. Ernest Kofi Davis, explained that the growing trend of expensive gifts such as cars and money bouquets is promoting inequality among students and shifting attention away from academic achievement.

The directive follows instructions from Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu, as part of efforts to restore discipline, fairness, and focus within the education system.

The move is expected to guide schools toward more modest and academically focused celebrations.
