Colombia election dispute: left-wing supporters rally in Bogotá amid tight race

Supporters of Iván Cepeda gathered in Bogotá after the leftist candidate said he would wait for final ballot verification before recognizing a likely narrow defeat to right-wing rival Abelardo de Prea.

Vote checks are ongoing and expected to continue through Monday and Tuesday, as the country awaits an official result in a highly polarized election.

Cepeda emphasized that the left remains a major political force and warned of concerns over democratic protections, while also signaling openness to dialogue with a potential new government.
