Western Regional Minister Joseph Nelson has expressed deep concern over the devastating floods in Samreboi, linking the disaster to illegal mining activities along the River Tano.

He urged residents to take a firm stand against galamsey, warning that local complicity is worsening environmental destruction and increasing the risk of such disasters.

The Minister made the remarks during a visit to more than 1,340 displaced persons affected by the floods, assuring them of government support and ongoing relief efforts.

The flooding has destroyed homes, disrupted livelihoods, and left communities struggling to recover as authorities intensify calls for environmental protection.
