History's forgotten stories | Director Fang Li's latest documentary

Chinese director Fang Li is working on a new film, The Forgotten General. The China-U.S. co-production tells the story of the highest-ranking American Army office to become of prisoner of war during World War II, General Jonathan Wainwright.

Li is working with long-time documentary filmmaker Bill Einreinhofer.

"[Fang Li] is not telling war stories. He is telling the stories of people who were caught up in war. And I think that's a critical difference," Einreinhofer said.

Li says he feels a responsibility to share these forgotten stories with the world.

"Whatever you want to tell the world, you tell the world. I'm just recording. I don't have a purpose. I just want to listen to your story and share it with the world because I'm a filmmaker," Li said.
