A heated debate has unfolded on The Big Issue with Umaru Sanda Amadu over the ongoing controversy surrounding former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, his reported U.S. immigration status, and questions about accountability.
Co-Chair of the Citizens Movement Against Corruption, Edem Senanu, argued that individuals who have held public office must account for their stewardship, insisting that Ofori-Atta should return to clear his name rather than avoid scrutiny.
NPP Communications Director Richard Ahiagbah, however, maintained that Ofori-Atta has not been formally charged and stated that his stay in the United States is linked to medical treatment, not evasion of accountability.
The debate intensified as Akwatia MP Bernard Bediako challenged Ahiagbah's position on accountability, questioning consistency in the application of such principles.
Head of Legal for the United Party, Andrew Appiah Danquah, also weighed in, raising concerns about the independence of the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) and its handling of the matter.
The discussion highlights growing political tensions and differing interpretations of accountability, legal process, and public service responsibility.
