Member of Parliament for Garu, Thomas Anaba, is urging politicians to desist from protesting the arrest of individuals suspected of engaging in corrupt practices, saying such actions weaken the fight against corruption.

He argued that rather than defending suspects, political actors should allow investigative bodies like the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) to carry out their mandate without interference.

Mr. Anaba referenced protests by the Minority Caucus over the detention of the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, Bernard Antwi Boasiako (Chairman Wontumi), noting that the suspect's decision to enter a plea bargain suggests an admission of guilt in his ongoing criminal trial.

He made these comments during an interaction with journalists, calling for stronger national commitment to accountability and the rule of law.
