Adutor Community Hit by Severe Flooding After Heavy Rains

Basic schools and a health centre in Adutor in the South Tongu District of the Volta Region have been inundated following heavy rainfall, leaving classrooms and sections of the health facility flooded and disrupting both academic and healthcare services.

The floods have left students, patients, and residents stranded, while several homes and farmlands in the community have also been affected.

Residents say the recurring flooding is due to the community's proximity to lagoons and rivers that have become silted over time.

They are therefore calling on authorities to urgently dredge water bodies and construct larger drainage systems to improve water flow and prevent future flooding.
