Heavy Rainfall Disrupts Education and Healthcare in Adutor, South Tongu

Basic schools and a health centre in Adutor in the South Tongu District of the Volta Region have been inundated following heavy rainfall, disrupting both academic activities and healthcare delivery.

The flooding left classrooms and sections of the health facility submerged, stranding students, patients, and residents. Several homes and farmlands in the community were also affected.

Residents attribute the recurring floods to the community's proximity to lagoons and rivers, which they say have become silted over time, reducing their capacity to contain excess water.

Assembly Member for the Adutor Electoral Area, Promise Agbanyo, who spoke to Channel One News, said the situation has disrupted virtually every aspect of life in the community.

He called for urgent dredging of the Tordze River and improved drainage infrastructure to prevent future flooding incidents.
