MP Urges Politicians to Stop Protesting Corruption Arrests
The Member of Parliament for Garu, Thomas Anaba, is urging politicians to refrain from protesting the arrest of individuals suspected of corruption in order to strengthen Ghana's anti-corruption efforts.
He made the comments following protests by the Minority Caucus over the detention of the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
According to him, the suspect's decision to enter a plea bargain in the ongoing trial suggests an admission of guilt, and therefore political interference should be avoided to allow due process to take its course.
He made these remarks during an interaction with journalists.
