National Theatre Uses Funworld 2026 to Promote Environmental Awareness

The National Theatre of Ghana has held a special edition of its flagship youth and family edutainment programme, Funworld, aimed at promoting environmental awareness among young people through the creative arts.

Organised as part of activities marking World Earth Day and World Environment Day, the June edition brought together pupils from various schools to participate in drama, poetry, debates, quizzes and musical performances centred on environmental sustainability.

Speaking at the event, William Ashong said the performing arts play a crucial role in shaping children's character, expanding their understanding of society and helping them develop important life skills.

The programme forms part of efforts to use arts and culture as tools for education and social change.
