Policy analyst and Co-Chair of the Ghana Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (GHEITI), Emmanuel Steve Asare Manteaw, has called for the harmonisation of Ghana's mineral royalty management system.
He argues that the current fragmented structure is undermining efforts to deliver sustainable development benefits to mining host communities.
Speaking to Channel One News, Dr. Manteaw noted that despite royalty allocations to mining areas, poor management and inefficiencies continue to prevent communities from experiencing meaningful development outcomes, a concern repeatedly highlighted in GHEITI findings.
