GSA Destroys Seized Substandard Electrical Products in Accra

The Ghana Standards Authority has destroyed a quantity of seized substandard electrical products and gadgets confiscated during recent enforcement operations across the Greater Accra Region.

The items, including electrical bulbs, extension cords, and other appliances, were seized from malls and warehouses, including locations around Opera Square in Accra, over concerns that they were manufactured with substandard materials.

The exercise forms part of the Authority's efforts to combat the production, importation, and distribution of inferior products and to protect consumers from potentially dangerous goods.

Speaking during a media engagement, Clement Kubati urged manufacturers and importers to submit their products for testing and certification to avoid losses from future seizures and destruction.

He also revealed that mattress manufacturing companies affected by recent enforcement actions have been given a one-month ultimatum to recall their products from the market.
