312,448 Tertiary Students Benefit From No Fees Stress Policy

The Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, says a total of 312,448 first-year tertiary students have benefited from the government's “No Fees Stress” policy, at a cumulative cost of over GH¢888 million.

Answering questions on the floor of Parliament, the Minister explained that the initiative continues to provide financial relief to students across public tertiary institutions.

He noted that the 2024/2025 academic year recorded about 152,000 beneficiaries, costing GH¢399 million, while the 2025/2026 academic year has so far seen 159,000 students benefitting, costing GH¢489 million.

The policy, according to government, is aimed at reducing financial barriers and expanding access to higher education in Ghana.
