Minority Calls for 24-Hour Market Funds to Be Redirected to Agenda 111

The Minority Members on Parliament's Local Government and Rural Development Committee are calling for a reallocation of funds from the proposed 24-hour market initiative to the completion of abandoned Agenda 111 hospital projects.

Speaking at a capacity-building workshop for Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) in Accra, Ranking Member Francis Asenso-Boakye argued that several districts already have underutilised market infrastructure.

He noted that investing additional public funds in new markets where demand is low would not be the most efficient use of resources, especially when many Agenda 111 hospital projects remain incomplete.

The Minority is therefore urging government to prioritise healthcare infrastructure over new market developments in such communities.
