Education Minister Breaks Down No Fees Stress Beneficiaries and Costs

The Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, says a total of 312,448 first-year tertiary students have benefited from the government's No Fees Stress policy at a cost of over GH¢888 million.

Answering questions on the floor of Parliament, he explained that the 2024/2025 academic year recorded 152,000 beneficiaries costing GH¢399 million, while 159,000 students have benefited so far in the 2025/2026 academic year at a cost of GH¢489 million.

According to the Minister, the intervention is designed to reduce the financial burden on tertiary students and improve access to higher education across the country.

He further stated that there are no outstanding financial obligations under the programme, adding that the Finance Minister has released adequate funds to support its implementation.
