Asokore Mampong MCE Orders Demolition of Structures on Waterways
The Municipal Chief Executive for Asokore Mampong, Ben Abdullah Alhassan, has disclosed that the Assembly has intensified demolition exercises targeting structures obstructing drainage channels and waterways.
Speaking in an interview, he attributed the municipality's flooding challenges to indiscipline, weak development control, and poor sanitation practices.
He noted that the indiscriminate construction of buildings on waterways and the proliferation of unauthorized structures continue to block the free flow of water, increasing flood risks, especially during the rainy season.
The MCE urged residents to take responsibility for their actions, stressing that many of the challenges can be addressed through civic responsibility and strict adherence to planning regulations.
