Sawla-Tuna-Kalba MP Appeals to GETFund Over Dilapidated Schools
The Member of Parliament for Sawla-Tuna-Kalba, Andrew Dari Chiwitey, is appealing to the Ghana Education Trust Fund to urgently support the rehabilitation of deteriorating school buildings across the constituency.
The appeal follows growing concerns in Garkuon and other rural communities in the Savannah Region, where poor school infrastructure and heavy rains are disrupting teaching and learning.
According to the MP, several schools have been forced to close due to damaged roofs, weakened structures, and unsafe classroom conditions. He also highlighted the challenge of pupils crossing flooded streams to access schools, particularly during the rainy season.
Mr. Chiwitey says he has formally submitted a list of affected schools to GETFund and is awaiting a response. Residents are calling for immediate intervention to prevent further disruption to education and ensure the safety of pupils and teachers.
