Michael Korletey, a science teacher at Odumase Presby JHS and one of the 10 nominees for the Channel One Community Legends 2026 Cohort, is being recognised for his exceptional commitment to student development beyond the classroom.
He explains that his motivation comes from personal experience and empathy:
“Growing up through the hard way and meeting kids going through similar situations… that is where the motivation is coming from.”
At Odumase Presby JHS, students describe him as a caring and supportive teacher who goes the extra mile:
“He motivates us to learn especially we the ladies… sometimes he provides sanitary pads for us.”
He also supports students academically and emotionally by offering past questions, mentoring, financial assistance for needy students, and personal guidance.
“I sit them down and tell them my story… so that they can also rise to get to this position.”
Students say his impact is visible in improved academic performance and increased motivation, especially among those preparing for senior high school.
