Muntaka Mubarak Sets Up 13-Member Committee on Building Collapse Cases

The Interior Minister, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has inaugurated a 13-member Committee of Inquiry to investigate the causes of recent deadly building collapses in Ghana.

The committee is expected to examine the underlying factors behind the incidents, including possible failures in oversight, regulatory enforcement, construction standards, and institutional accountability within the built environment sector.

At the inauguration, the Minister stressed that building collapses should not only be seen as structural failures but also as signs of deeper systemic and regulatory challenges that require urgent attention.

The inquiry forms part of government efforts to improve safety standards and prevent future tragedies across the country.
