Mental Health Experts Warn of Specialist Shortage in Northern Region

Stakeholders in the mental health sector in the Northern Region are calling for strengthened capacity building for the limited number of mental health and psychological specialists in the area.

Speaking at a community dialogue in Zoggu in the Nanton District, Clinical Psychologist Peter Mintir Amadu emphasized the need to adequately resource all actors involved in the fight against drug abuse and mental health challenges.

He also appealed to government to expedite the completion of the Northern Region's first psychiatric facility to improve access to mental healthcare services.

The call comes amid growing concerns over rising mental health needs and limited specialist support in the region.
