Parliament Heats Up Over Ken Ofori-Atta Extradition Debate

A heated debate has emerged in Parliament over the legal and political future of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, following discussions on his ongoing extradition processes and recent reports of U.S. permanent residency approval.

The Majority Leader, Mahama Ayariga, suggested that Ghanaians should consider making Ofori-Atta's return to the country a key issue in evaluating future political decisions, including the re-election prospects of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

In response, the Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, criticised what he described as political targeting of the former minister, stressing that Ofori-Atta has not been convicted by any court of law.

The exchange adds to ongoing national discussions surrounding accountability, extradition, and political responsibility in Ghana.
