Luigi Mangione will use psychiatric defense in state murder trial
Luigi Mangione, who is on trial in New York for the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, will use a psychiatric defense in the case. If his attorneys are able to prove he was experiencing an extreme emotional disturbance at the time of the alleged killing, Mangione's second-degree murder charge could be reduced to first-degree manslaughter if he's convicted.
