Africa's ocean economy must transition from aid dependency to investment-led growth in order to fully unlock its economic and sustainable potential.

Speaking at the Ocean Business and Investment Forum in Mombasa, Kenya, the Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture, Emelia Arthur, emphasized that African countries must attract more private capital to transform the blue economy.

She noted that shifting toward investment-driven strategies will help expand opportunities in fisheries, aquaculture, maritime trade, and ocean-based innovation across the continent.

The remarks form part of broader discussions at the forum on strengthening Africa's blue economy for long-term development and sustainability.
