Davis Ansah Opoku Questions Ofori-Atta’s Failure to Appear for Investigation

The Vice Chairperson of Parliament's Public Accounts Committee, Davis Ansah Opoku, has joined calls for former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta to be tried in absentia over ongoing investigations.

Speaking to the media at the 2026 Governance and Anti-Corruption Summit, Mr. Opoku expressed concern over the former minister's failure to make himself available for questioning.

According to him, having once headed one of the country's most important institutions, Ofori-Atta should appreciate the importance of cooperating with investigative processes.

Mr. Opoku further suggested that a trial in absentia could help expedite efforts to secure the former minister's return to Ghana and ensure that ongoing legal proceedings continue without unnecessary delays.

The remarks come amid continued public and political discussions surrounding investigations involving the former Finance Minister.
