Chairman of the Ghana National Research Fund (Ghana National Research Fund) Board, Prof. Eric Yirenkyi Danquah, has stressed that political independence alone is not sufficient for national development.

Drawing lessons from global experiences, including the World Bank, he noted that countries must increasingly build the capacity to fund their own research and innovation priorities.

He described the Ghana National Research Fund as an institutional intervention aimed at strengthening the relationship between scientific capability, development financing, and national transformation.

His remarks were made at the official launch of the Fund in Accra, highlighting the importance of sustainable investment in science and innovation for long-term growth.
