Mensah-Bonsu has urged stronger preventive measures to address tensions within communities before they escalate into violence. Speaking at a panel discussion in Accra on Traditional, Inter-Faith and Judicial Perspectives to Silencing the Guns in Africa, Justice Mensah-Bonsu emphasized that peace should be protected through proactive interventions rather than waiting for disputes to reach the courts. She also called for the establishment of community-based institutions to help resolve conflicts at the local level and improve access to justice for ordinary citizens who may not have the resources to pursue legal action through formal judicial processes. According to her, strengthening grassroots dispute resolution mechanisms can help reduce conflict, promote social harmony, and contribute to lasting peace in communities across Ghana and Africa.
