The government, through the Ghana Geological Survey Authority (Ghana Geological Survey Authority), has upgraded 20 of the 21 seismic data centres across the country.

Officials say the centres had been largely inactive for years, with only two previously functioning nationwide, making the nationwide upgrade a critical step toward improving seismic monitoring capacity.

The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, says the initiative will significantly enhance data collection and strengthen Ghana's preparedness for natural disasters such as earthquakes.

The move is part of broader efforts to modernize national disaster response systems and improve early warning capabilities across the country.
