Tricycle waste collectors in Kumasi are threatening to dump refuse at the entrance of the Oti Landfill Site if persistent operational challenges at the facility are not addressed.
According to the operators, the continuous breakdown of key machines at the landfill has made it impossible for many of them to offload waste, forcing them to spend days waiting at the site.
The collectors say the situation has become unbearable and is affecting their work, raising concerns about a possible sanitation challenge if immediate action is not taken.
They are calling on the relevant authorities to urgently repair the faulty equipment and restore normal operations at the landfill to prevent a further escalation of the situation.
