Tarkwa Highway Blocked: Heavy Rain Triggers Major Mudslide on Akoon–Bogoso Stretch

A night of heavy rainfall has triggered a mudslide on the Akoon–Bogoso Junction stretch of the Tarkwa highway, blocking a major transport route and disrupting movement in parts of the Western Region.
Emergency response teams, including the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Ghana Police Service, Ghana National Fire Service, and the Ghana Prisons Service, are on-site working to clear debris and restore access.
Heavy equipment from Gold Fields Ghana Limited has also been deployed to support recovery efforts. Several communities, including Tarkwa Senior High School and Nsuta, have reportedly been affected by flooding following the downpour.
