The 28th Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) kicked off as scheduled on June 12, 2026, and will run through June 21. As China's sole international A-category film festival, the SIFF poster adopts the theme "Every Light and Shadow Tells a Story," blending a century of cinematic heritage with the vibrant energy of a modern city to create a spectacular film event that embraces international vision, industry depth and public engagement.
Finn, a young Dutch man who has been living in Shanghai for over two years, is full of anticipation for this year's festival. He says that watching a movie in Shanghai feels like being transported into the world of the film itself. Finn regularly watches a wide variety of Chinese and international films, which have profoundly changed his life and broadened his horizons. He says he can't wait to explore the diverse stories, watch outstanding new releases and experience the vibrant convergence of global cinema at the SIFF. In Finn's view, Shanghai is a city that nurtures the art of film, which makes his life here more wonderful.
