Ebola outbreak fuels fear and misinformation in DR Congo camp.

Health workers in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo are battling not only Ebola but also widespread misinformation and mistrust about the deadly virus.

In Kapanga camp, home to around 30,000 internally displaced people, aid workers are going door to door to educate residents about how Ebola spreads and how to protect themselves.

Several cases have already been recorded in the camp, with some patients dying from the disease. Health officials say skepticism remains a major obstacle, with some patients refusing treatment and others denying that Ebola exists.

The crowded conditions and poor sanitation in displacement camps have increased concerns about further transmission, while the lack of specialised treatment facilities is complicating the response.
