On Friday, President Trump lashed out at Iranian state press for leaking deal terms that clash with American descriptions, injecting fresh volatility into the high-stakes negotiations. Despite the sudden friction, Iran's Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi confirmed on state TV that a deal to end the fighting is close and a breakthrough agreement remains on the table. According to Araghchi, the looming framework includes reopening the strategic Strait of Hormuz and lifting the US blockade of Iran, while the contentious talks on Iran's nuclear program are deferred to a later stage. US officials have since confirmed parts of the text, but stressed that economic relief for Tehran will strictly depend on meeting its performance-based obligations. The tense diplomatic pull-and-push comes after Trump's Thursday decision to halt airstrikes, claiming a finalized deal could be signed this weekend. However, the final sign-off from Iran's Supreme Leader still hangs in the balance.
