The Ministry of Health is calling on Ghanaians to donate blood voluntarily to help address the country's blood shortage.
According to the Director of Allied Health at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Ignatius Awinibuno, hospitals across the country are facing challenges with blood supply due to inadequate donations.
Speaking at this year's World Blood Donor Day celebration in Accra, Dr. Awinibuno disclosed that Ghana collected about 200,000 units of blood in 2025, a figure that falls below the country's annual requirement.
