Labour Analyst Austin Gamey says Ghana does not need a new Labour Act, insisting that existing labour laws are sufficient to address emerging workplace challenges.
His comments follow an announcement by President John Dramani Mahama that government is close to finalising a new labour bill aimed at protecting workers in areas such as remote work, the gig economy, and digital platforms.
Speaking at the 2026 Chartered Institute of Human Resource Management Conference, Gamey argued that the priority should be strict enforcement of existing laws rather than introducing new legislation.
